Re: Is there anything we can do??

Yes, there is zero chance I would recommend or buy a Nokia product now.

But I am still extremely saddened for open source (including Qt).

Re: Goodbye Meego, goodbye Nokia

That's all wishful thinking. Nokia acted from a position of weakness. Nokia did not even get a WP7 licensing deal worth describing to the analysts. As far as "wise," that's not a word that belongs in...

Re: Nokia - Microsoft partnership (merged threads)

Worst news ever from my perspective. I will never again buy a Nokia phone. I'm going 100% with Android now. Forget Meego. Forget Nokia.

Re: The Nexus One vs. N900 My 1st hand accounts from both

I bought the N900, the Droid and the Nexus One. I don't plan to keep them all. But I did want hands-on time with them.

I have to disagree with the OP regarding the Nexus One screen. It is very...

I doubt you will be happy with the Nexus One for VoIP.

Re: Do I? Don't I?

Having used both, my feeling is that you will be fine with the N900. No one knows the answers to the upgrade paths for either the Droid or the N900, so don't make your decision on a total unknown....

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Re: Openness: Maemo vs Android

Making a decision to compromise one's beliefs should not be the equated with "growing up". (I recognize that it often is, but that's rather sad.)

I remember when I refused to recycle and when I...

Re: Can anyone tell me what is the function of X-terminal application in N900?

I would like to see this community implement something like the Ubuntu Code of Conduct.

There is no benefit to making newcomers feel...

Re: Can anyone tell me what is the function of X-terminal application in N900?

You can do plenty of damage even without enabling root. But you can always reflash if you screw things up really bad. :D

Google "bash shell commands" or "bash commands" while you're researching...

Re: Sick of release problems and launch bugs? Pandora

Almost no one will argue with you that Nokia has made some missteps with the N900 launch, including the DDP program. (I think Nokia will admit it themselves.)

But as you guys gain more experience...

Re: N900 - Yes, it sucks.

There is another way. Focusing only on Nokia bashing doesn't make Maemo stronger. Building the community makes things better.

Re: How Do I Wipe the N900 and Get Back to Out of Box State?

The manual states that resetting options keeps user's data.

Manually deleting directories with personal data should do it, but I guess reflashing as suggested above would be best.

It would be much more interesting to go the other way. To get Maemo running on Motorola Droid/Milestone.

Maemo is the more open of the two platforms:...

Re: N900 - Yes, it sucks.

Well said. And in addition to kudos for being an early adopter, the far more powerful aspect of having a Maemo device is the chance to support a better model of computing.
