Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories

Thanks for reply. I was not asking to do that for me. I was just asking if it is done already. From priorities point of view, sure, we need other things first. Personally, I want to return google...

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories

I understand, but it could be a kind of scaling matrix or something like that to convert one set of numbers into another, which could be configured in repository info, so if we can match coordinates,...

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories

There is a nice repository for the King County, WA, which is quite useful for hiking:
http://gismaps.kingcounty.gov/roadalert/

It has hi-resolution aerial photos and road-alert overlays with...

Re: WebKit engine for default browser

Somehow I managed to run it. I've uninstalled and installed it again a couple of times with reboots in between. I do not know why it wasn't working at the first place.

There are some minor and...

Re: WebKit engine for default browser

I can't make it working. It just says Updating whatever engine I choose. Reboot does not help.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.

I've tried it, uninstalled using standard maemo UI, but battery drains quickly. Is it something which can be left? How can I remove libidn11? Thanks.

Re: Take the weather with you with Foreca Weather Applet

Thank you! Nice work. I would advise to do not jump into a feature race. Keep it simple.

Re: Take the weather with you with Foreca Weather Applet

I name things as I feel. Foreca is much better. It looks better and more professional. It does not have as many options as omweather, which is indication that authors were thinking about usability,...

Re: proj for maemo mapper on os2008.43-7

BTW, The proj seems to have one nasty bug. When I choose terraserver topo maps, sometimes I have one incorrect rectangle in the middle of my map. It happens quite often, probably every time, which...

Re: Take the weather with you with Foreca Weather Applet

I like it! I use it now instead of omweather. It is much simple and so convenient. It does not popup useless full screen window when you touch it, so you can move applet around the screen. GPS...

Re: Lock desktop applets

It is not just that. There is a bit of evil in them. Applets are moving around when you do not want it, but it is hard to move them back. Usually I have to try several times, before it actually...

Re: Outlook Web Access - Slow Typing on N810

I think it is related to the amount of HTML loaded into the control. If I create empty message or replying to the short one, the speed is fine. But if I am replying to the large thread, it becomes...

Re: Firefox Mobile Alpha Version Coming to Nokia N810 Tablet Next Week

I've tried fennec, it is SO SLOW, it is impossible to use. Every click causes delay in several seconds, when the tablet is unusable, with unpredictable result afterwards. I've spent a quarter of hour...

Re: Is diablo gonna support A2DP??

AFAIK, some headsets (Sony one, for example) support MP3 encoding inside A2DP instead of SBC. At least this is written on the box. It would be nice for batteries to just repack stream, instead of...

It was working fine before the last update. Now it just says that host name or port is incorrect, which is not the case. UI shows everything correctly. Network is fine, I can connect on my computer...

Re: N800 not suitable as a portable media player?

It could be quite suitable for me as a player, if it displays unicode ID3 tags correctly.

Re: Unicode ID3 tags

So the issue is that upper byte of every unicode character cut when it is converted to 8-bit string. Character 044e will be displayed as 4e character. I would guess, the bug is somewhere in id3lib....

Re: Unicode mp3 tags

If the issue is in id3lib, there are a lot of fixes in Internet. Just google "id3lib unicode" and you will find a lot of different patches and negative statements about unicode support in id3lib.

Re: Unicode mp3 tags

What happens, is that unicode characters have their upper byte cut, I guess in a way of conversion to 8-bit string, so Canola display string taking just lower bytes from every unicode character. For...

I would expect that player allows using file names as one of media attributes. If we can navigate by artist, by album, why can't we navigate by file name? There are several scenarios when tags are...

Re: Unicode mp3 tags

pycage> I do not quite follow you. My point was that none of UTF-8/16 tags work. v2.4 tags are not displayed at all, but v2.3 UTF-16 tags are displayed as garbage ASCII characters.

[Canola] File Names in Canola

What I can not understand, is some unexplainable denial to show file names in media players. Is it some kind of taboo, I'm touching? Is it illegal in this country?

Really, any other kind of...

Re: Unicode mp3 tags

Well, as I see, it is not improved, it is entirely broken. The latest v2.4, which is not supported at all. v2.3 displays garbage instead of non-ASCII characters. All others version do not support...
