Is there a way to force the backlight always on (like Maemo Mapper in fullscreen mode) ?
I haven't found an option for this in navit.xml.
For now I use Maemo Mapper in backgrounded fullscreen to...

If you try to download again the same region, I think it will continue to download the remaining tiles (if not checked "overwrite").

MM < v2 uses directly stored maps as files and could be used with winmapper.
MM > v2 uses a database and could NOT be used with winmapper.
Don't know if winmapper had updates for translating files...

For me, search works partially on my N810: it does not find all the cities I ask.
I'm using OpenStreetMaps bin file.

I've modified the navit.xml because there was some "/usr/share/navit/maps/*.xml" not found, and also to add the map I've put, grabbed from downloads.cloudmade.com...

Yes, it's what I've done:
I've downloaded the area at home (wifi) and loaded it after.
It only downloads .osm data via the OpenStreetMap api (and not tiles like Maemo Mapper) so it's really few...

You're totally right. I changed my port to 5901 and it now works directly under maemo with : vncviewer localhost:1

I created a ssh tunnel and use it with :
xtightvncviewer localhost::44444 -fullscreen
but with vnc viewer (at least the maemo one) I couldn't configure it with a port in parameter.

Maybe my problem is because of some proxy I must use at work.

It's not just a translation problem, the FN key didn't do anything!

I've updated to the last "easy debian chroot", the keyboard works fine in icewm except the FN key which seems inactive.
I've a french N810, any idea ? (maybe just some mod in Xmodmap-debian?)

Try "./fb_update_mode" in /usr/bin to see if it works.
When I extracted it in sdcard and put it in /usr/bin it doesn't worked but extracted directly in /usr/bin...
