Talk is a great name and I don't see any reason to change or explain it. Just my opinion

As proposed today in the maemo-community list while discussing where to put "Brainstorm" in the navigation bar:

In the short term, we could get rid of Community since Get Involved
points exactly to the same place.

Intro ("Get started"?) and Development could be next candidates if we
need more room.

This way we might end up having a nav bar full of action:

Downloads - Talk - Brainstorm - Wiki - News

("School" being a candidate there if it happens)

And a top right block for the one-time or niche interesting spots:

Get Started
Get Involved
Development

("Get Help" could stay there or be absorbed as part of "School". Just
talking.)

English speakers often use the term."Talk is cheap"...
A Forum has been around since Cesare was a luitenant...

It doesn't bother me either way but as long as it is in discussion, that was my two cents worth of input

No, what I'm saying is that the top-level navigation wasn't arrived at arbitrarily and that you should be aware that there's been a significant amount of discussion on the subject.

Can we leave the paranoia and sarcasm in un-constructive threads, please? I'm not sure my constitution can take any more of it.

My response also on -community[1], echoing what GeneralAntilles said below:

[1] Modest seems to have really screwed up the threading. Damn.

Likewise, it could say "Forum" instead of "Message Board."

I'd have to see how it'd look in the design, though -- anyone's welcome to mock something up.

A mockup you ask for, a mockup you shall recieve: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/46230/mockup/maemomockup.htm

It's OK... The subtitles could probably use some work, but it shows how this can be accomplished legibly. Although, I don't think it looks that great... I think if we want to explain things more, the title attribute on the link would be the best place to do so.

TrueJournals: Thanks, but, yeah... It's ugly. Subjective, yes, but... Well, as you said, it needs work.

Could you do the same mockup but with the smaller text (i.e. the subtitles below the main labels) in a dark orange colour?

Not sure if it's any better or worse... It's definitely different: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/46230/moc...emomockup2.htm

Maybe I should use a different shade of orange? I just grabbed this one from the link color.

Yeah, that sort of "makes my eyes burn."
