Re: Nokia threatening to replace my N900 with an N8 or E7

And I got a reply yesterday saying they've found me a replacement N900. She says she's tested it and is "happy with it functionality". So I guess that's a win... we'll see once I get it back!

Re: Nokia threatening to replace my N900 with an N8 or E7

And what's the status of that?

My conditions included that it couldn't be in worse condition than mine, everything in working order, no serious scratches or breaks and so on.

Re: Nokia threatening to replace my N900 with an N8 or E7

They've since asked if a replacement non-new N900 might be acceptable. I said yes, with various conditions. So things are looking okay.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Nokia threatening to replace my N900 with an N8 or E7

Yes, I sent it to Thetford. In her email above she asks me for my contact details (even though my Canadian number was in the repair request) so I've given it again. I'd much rather they phone me than...

Nokia threatening to replace my N900 with an N8 or E7

My N900 broke. The phone is still in warranty so I'm not about to try a home repair.

I sent it back to the UK (I now live in Canada) and had an old friend send it onwards to Nokia for me. I...

Re: Hook when connecting to a wifi network?

Yeah, there's a form you usually fill out by hand in that HTML. You'll have to flex your HTML muscles to figure out the key and value pairs which would be sent if you were to submit the form...

Re: Where are the WIFI passwords stored and how to recover them?

It was in a different place on my N900 when I looked for it just now. I got what I needed with

Re: Cancel notification light from commandline or Python?

Thanks very much!

I've just ported that to Python and it looks like this, in case anyone else is looking for it:

import dbus
bus = dbus.SystemBus()
proxy = bus.get_object("com.nokia.mce",...

Cancel notification light from commandline or Python?

Re: SMS from CLI (Command Line)?

OK, here's an easy one -- some English fixed and the VP option's usage text clarified a bit.

Are patches welcome? If so I'll fix some typos and suggest some invocation changes.

I finally got around to trying your SMS sender, sakya. From the small amount of testing I've done so far it seems good, but both of the >160 character tests I've tried so far (without the compose...

Yeah, I never claimed it wasn't messy! With a bit of testing maybe it'll turn out to be fine, maybe it won't.

Re: Detect button push when phone locked

I'd considered that... My concern was that if I unlocked it to get a possible buzz I wouldn't be able to tell if I'd locked it again properly afterwards without getting the phone out.

I'm trying dbus-monitor --system and nothing appears when pressing the camera or volume buttons, sadly. Does that mean there's no way I can detect them?

Something does appear (but after a delay)...

Re: Detect button push when phone locked

Thanks, but that's not at all what I'm looking for. I want to be able to tell if there's a message without even taking my phone out of my pocket, let alone looking at the screen.
