Re: Are you happy with your GPS(N810)?

I would like to say yes, but it has to be a no from me. Partly my reasoning is aot's comment; "unable to get a fix within minutes but in those cases rebooting has solved the problem"; I'm sorry, but...

but it appears I can't even install the utilities to do the downgrade....

I guess this means I'll just have to wait for the install files to be fixed as part of releasing the new kernel...

Question Re: How to rotate screen on os2008

I've only just moved my N810 from Chinook to Diablo. The PC based software update wizard automatically offered the latest firmware, which seems to have the latest SSU already as part of the image. ...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.4 adds support for Yahoo Maps

New feature requests:

I use the OSM maps a lot, but the OSM maps are constantly improving in my area, and hence even if the map has been downloaded before, it may well be out of date now, with new...

Re: Possible BOINGO!

http://mobile.boingo.com/download/client.php?client=n810 would seem to have a client available for download, however, there is at least one reference to OS2008, which may be a pre-requisite.

Re: Where are you?

There's a version of Maemo Plazer that you can download into the SDK_X86 emulator which has been broken for months :(

Let's hope this gets fixed when they fix the main tablet version...

Re: Where are you?

The Geoclue developers have thought a lot about this, and plan to allow you to specify to each application what level of detail you want to provide - so, for example a mapping app like Maemo Mapper...

Re: Cheaper N800s coming to EU?

Actually, Amazon had the 770+Nav Kit at £99 the week before it was £139, so I suspect they dropped the price to clear out any excess stock, which they have now done.

Re: UK: N770 + GPS for £139

Although the software will work on the N800, you won't have the N800 car holder, which appears impossible to purchase unless with the N800 Navicore Navigation Kit.

Re: Third Internet Tablet spotted on FCC

Of course, Nokia could do anything they like to get the WiMax into the same form factor - they may, for example, replace the internal SD card slot with the WiMax module completely...

Pure...

Re: Third Internet Tablet spotted on FCC

The facts so far are that the FCC has just tested a new tablet with GPS, but with no obvious WiMax testing. Nokia, Sprint and others have announced that Nokia will be producing a WiMax Internet...

Re: Third Internet Tablet spotted on FCC

indeed - I suspect we're going to see something of interest in the next few weeks, with a WiMax version of either that or the N800 (or both) in the new year.

Re: Why no free NokiaMaps for Nokia 800 ?

Because Nokia hasn't produced it - no one knows why (except Nokia), but it's simply not available.
Linux screen does nothing close to what you are asking for, and the rest are examples of client...

Re: Why no free NokiaMaps for Nokia 800 ?

There is nothing available today to allow remote access / virtual terminal to a Symbian phone, so it can't be done.

I'm not sure what are you trying to achieve - maybe if you tell us what you...

Re: Why no free NokiaMaps for Nokia 800 ?

Nokia Maps and most other SatNav applications do not use map tiles, they use maps that are in a compressed format for easy route planning, and involve no images. This process is normally unique for...
