Hello ITT gamers!

Pentagram is an engine to play Origin Systems "Ultima VIII - Pagan" role-playing game on modern systems.

http://pupnik.de/pentagram.html

Thanks to wjp, we could find the pointer-alignment problem that was causing segfaults.... chalk up another one for the pup!

(edit) Wow.. 12-17 fps with 640x480 point scaler, 9-13 fps with 800x480 scale2x....

ArnimS, you're my personal hero!

I will certainly try this one.

Any update on your exult port ?

Hot-diggity!
Just as soon as I'm finished "acquiring" Ultima VIII Pagan I'll try it out.
Let's see, so far we can now play Ultima IV via DOSBOX, Ultima VII via Exult, and now this.
Good thing ArnimS is an RPG nut like me. Arnim, take a look at porting/recompiling xu4 if you haven't already.
The ultimate would be to get Ultima IV Online ported over but it's closed source...hmm...talk to the devs there?

There's tons of Ultima source out there just itching to be ported.
I would try more but....to quote a great philosopher:

Well it looks like a nice idea. But... The site doesn't seem to have much activity. There's no info in the 'developers blog' which been updated since April. In addition any on-line game needs players, so it makes little sense to port unless there is an existing community playing.

Some open-source on-line games with active communities are The Mana World

http://http://www.internettablettalk...ead.php?t=9954

and Daimonin
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...light=daimonin

I hope both will be playable and one-click-installable by Christmas at least.

Same here. It would also be great if we could get Exult ported over to Maemo 5 as well, I wonder if we can convince ArnimS to do it.

He tends to hang out every so often over at #knots on freenode.

Don't act all surprised if he's there drunk and half passed out though.

Just maintain eye contact and try to not show any fear.

Arnim is an awesome guy but is no longer the one man army he used to be.

Not even sure if he has interest is coding anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully someone knowledgeable will be willing to pick up where he left off.

funny to see this build running on Nokia 770 panning a 800x480 bitmap screen about 12 fps - (visually) as fast as N900 + Powervr SGX + Clutter can scroll a list.

building sdl games is actually fun. nobody knows how to do it when they start doing it!!

It's been more than a year. Are there any updates on this? Is there a way to install this to my n900?
