"Nokia’s recent button-less touch-based smartphone, the N9, has enjoyed strong demand, according to Elop. “In Russia, we saw our highest preorders ever.”

"The N9 saw some success, especially in Russia. Elop spoke about how their Moscow store sold out in the opening sale and turned out the be the handset with the highest number of pre-orders."

Let's see if the N9 sells more than the
Lumina 710 & 800 crap.

Lumina is pretty much guaranteed to sell more. Production numbers, network partners, it will actually be availeable for people to buy, 100x or so marketing, and so on.

N9 doesn't even have a chance.

Indeed. it doesn't really matter what's the stronger device.

With that marketing and carrier push there's not even a chance of N9 selling more. Though the sales expectations are also quite different for Windows Phones compared to N9.

The name is the only interesting thing about it. At least I learned new english thanks to it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumia

Altough I'll just pretend that the name comes from finnish. Menneen talven lumia, koko Lumia vimputin.

It's chosen to be confusing with lumix (lawsuit in the horizon?).

Anyway, the N9 m-a-y sell more in the end. After all it's available in china.

I think the ratio "number of sales"/"marketing budget" might be very very good for the N9... but in pure "number of sales", WP is sure to be above..

Well, I tried to put my feelings in my last blog post (http://taschenorakel.de/michael/2011...real-feedback/) – I *am* happy that the N9 is finally there. And for the Windows Phone stuff? Well, at least we have the choice, which also includes the choice to simply ignore it ;-)
