I got the low battery warning and jumped to the wall charger to plug it in, locked the screen and waited a few minutes, after a little while i picked it up and started using the device again, but then the dreaded "recharge the battery" msg popped; when i tried booting the device again now the status bar won't show (the carrier name and title bar of the few programs that do load show just fine though), i hear nothing when i press keys or touch the screen nor when i plug the charger etc, and if i try to launch most programs the device becomes unresponsive (screen stays the same, but the backlight does time out and get relit if i slide the keyboard out, and holding the power button does shut it down).

I'm trying to leave reflash as the very last resort.

I can load the terminal with the keyboard shortcut, Midnight Commander seems to work for file management and editing textfiles.

I got that gainroot thingy.

I got syslog working.

Running Power Kernel v46

Haven't used the CSSU repo (at least not AFAIK)

Hm... what else? (feel free to ask for any details you think can help)

I would really appreaciate if someone would help me diagnose and fix this, pretty please with sugar on top?

hm, is it normal to not have a /lib/init folder?

and how about not having a /home/user/.config/hildon-desktop/status-menu.conf file?

Run "top" to see if anything is hogging the CPU.

You could try:
Code:
killall hildon-desktop
killall hildon-home
killall hildon-status-menu
to see if they restart.

Have you taken the battery out for a minute then restarted?

If you cannot access the menu typing "osso-backup" will start the bakup program.

No it won't touch the partition table. The kernel will be written
to the nand memory.

Seems just reflashing the kernel won't replace missing files; ok, then what willl be overwritten if i reflash rootfs?
