such as profile and stuff like that? Or will I have to backup stuff and create from scratch.

Are you using bash 4 now? I tried it briefly and it installs itself /bin/bash4 so user and root go back to busybox/sh and bash-setup doesn't work.
I was too lazy to set it up manually and went back to bash3.....

you can try the command "chsh" if bash-setup doesn't work, I use bash4 both as user and root fine

Did you rename it to /bin/bash or put a symlink?
