ok before flaming, I asked for help in another pr 1.3 thread but unfortunately no one responded.

my problem is quite simple .. I am trying to update OTA but the app manager wants me to install a missing (hildon-desktop 2.2.140-1+0m5)
It was expected because I replaced that package with this one in order to solve the dependency problems with the previous version.

my question is how to revert to the old version ? should I just uninstall the edited package or what ?

help?

Tip: If you are desperate enough for help to start a new thread, try to put information about your specific problem in the header. you might catch the eye of someone who knows. "yet another problem" is too vague.

i got the exact same problem
i typed in this
Code:
apt-get install --reinstall hildon-home
thing is the update disappeared and on top of all that i had to manually flash my N900
so just incase THAT code wont work XD
i ended up not being able to boot my phone
but i really cant find a reason for that as it shouldnt cause any problems

Hi yamakasi

You could download it manually from [1] and install it manually in the terminal as root. To do so, you have to have an understanding of the terminal!

There might be easier ways but thats how I do it as an command line junky.
Sometimes when you install odd packages 8which you should avoid), it needs some manual work to fix it.

Did you pin the other update from tomast?

I had a similar error and had to remove /etc/apt/preferences, the it did the OTA update just fine.
