On my N800, I've recently been using the stylus that comes with this Papermate Stylus-Pen. I haven't been able to find what the stylus is made of, but maybe silicone or some polymer. Whatever it is, though, what a greatly different, greatly superior feeling it provides as the stylus moves across the screen. Also, whereas the stock Nokia stylus scratches my screen protector, the silicone (?) tip does not. Using the better stylus tip makes the whole N800 feel like its a better quality product!

Now, as for ROI, how much could it cost to implant a little silicone tip into the end of the standard plastic slot-fitting stylus? For that tiny cost, Nokia could have had a noticeably more ... what? ... elegant-feeling, dare I say sensuous, product.

(For that matter, I thought the N810 stylus was a step backwards from that provided with the N800; it was just too skinny. And I know, Nokia is probably heading toward stylus-free ... but if it still includes one, it ought to go for the superior tip.)

This topic would have been banned under some proposed wordings of new discussion rules (whatever happened to them? who cares). I think it's a nifty idea.

When we used to have huge threads on what the N900 should be like, was that inappropriate because we hoped Nokia would pay attention to our suggestions? I don't think so.

I'm for a new tip, and if it comes in different flavors, that would be even better!

Fake did some good business with his N900 stands; maybe someone could do a similar job with styluses. (I think that Fake also sold a few styluses, but not with this idea.)

While working at Nokia on the internet tablet project I suggested we go to teflon tips. A program manager liked the idea but obviously it went nowhere...
