I have installed Chromium on my N800 via Easy Debian. Unfortunately it loads but then freezes. And in terminal gives these errors

[2665:2833:523155914:ERROR:net/disk_cache/backend_impl.cc(1080)] Unable to map Index file

[2665:2833:523468261:ERROR:net/disk_cache/backend_impl.cc(1080)] Unable to map Index file

[2665:2833:523468658:ERROR:net/disk_cache/backend_impl.cc(254)] Unable to create cache

I suspect these errors are due to the wrong permissions for the folders needed by chromium to create a profile.

I have tried changing the permissions on folders

home/user/.config/chromium
home/user/.cache/chromium
debian/home/user/.cache/chromium
debian/home/user/.config/chromium

as I read this

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/is...etail?id=24789

but this did not solve it.

I also tried using --user-data-dir= change where the profile is started, as explained here

http://www.chromium.org/developers/c...using-profiles

but still no joy.

Has anyone else installed this on there N800/N810 and got it to work?

I got the package chromium-browser

http://packages.debian.org/sid/armel...owser/download

by adding deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian sid main in repositories in Synaptic Package Manager and then installing it and its dependencies.

I have also noticed in the changelog for this package that it is updated very regually so I hope the next update works.

I'm only using the ssu, but is easy debian an os replacement or a... psudo os thing (kinda like wine)?

Check out the wiki page

http://wiki.maemo.org/Easy_Debian

" Easy Debian uses a fully installed Debian system to run applications inside of Maemo."
