Got an N900 last thurs morning as an insurance replacement.

...and i'm a bit lost.

How do i check if i have the latest firmware?

...and how do i download the most recent version?


Went into update, but have tried repeatedly since thursday morning... and keeps coming back with error messge saying it couldn't conenct to

OVI
Nokia Applications
Nokia System Sofrware

simply go to setting and about to check firmware. Google the firmware number and read about it or do software update check with NSU software on a PC, otherwise make sure you are connected to internet via 3G or wifi and go to application manager-> update. If you see nothing in there therefore it meant that you have the latest update.

if you get an error from application manger->update then it's either your router is blocking you from access the repository or the server is simply down.

OTA or Over The Air update required atleast 50MB free in rootf.
Xterminal-> type df -h
to see your available and used space.

My N900 did this as well... The way I fixed it was to force my N900 to use a user defined IP... And now it works

NSU: i should really have thought of that.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Unfortunately, i'l probably have many more silly questions in the coming days though.

So i just gone done running NSU... and all my applications are gone.

Did something go amiss,
or will i have to reinstall them every time i update the firmware?
