I want to buy an 8GB card. What is recommended? I have read several posts, but I dont seem to be coming to any conclusion.

Questions:

are all classes supported on N800, or do they all run at the same speed?

Whos got the best deal?

???

You need a special kernel for anything over 4GB, right? If you inserted one with the stock kernel, would it only see 4GB of it, or none at all?

I didn't realize 8gb was out until I saw this post. Wow, a potential of 16GB!!!!

8GB SDHC Class 2 Transcend works fine with the SDHC kernel.

SDHC cards will not work at all with the stock Nokia 2.2006.51-6 kernel, no matter what size they are.

EDIT: I've been using the SDHC kernel linked from this page without any problems.

Yep, can confirm the A-DATA 8GB SDHC card works perfectly. Not the fastest card out there, but no problems either. As mentioned, you must use the custom kernel to even see SDHC cards in the n800.

I just purchased my first IT this weekend, so I am a newbee.

I know that Nokia states that the n800 SD card slot is limited to 2GB out of the box, but can it handle more without updating the kernel?
Thanks,

I saw some people reported 8Gb A-Data worked, so I got one from Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211148) and it works fine for me (with SDHC kernel, of course). Used it for about two weeks now.

Also have the Transcend 8GB. Works great with SDHC patched kernel.

I grabbed 2 of the 8 GB SDHC A-Data cards from Newegg and have been using 'em for about a week - no problems.

Can anyone confirm speed differences? between class 2 or 4 or 6 or do they all run the same speed on n800? I am just hesitant to by cheap, and I am also hesitant to buy high. If I buy cheap and speed is better with higher end I would rather buy higher end. If I buy expensive and they all run the exact same speed on n800, I will have wasted my money. Since I will be booting off the 8gb card, I would like it to be as fast as possible.

>????

Is the 8GB class 2 at least as fast as my 2GB kingston mmc mobile?
