Could this be the next capacitive device?

Would you approve of capacitive screen with this one row keyboard?
If everything else is equal to or better than maemo 5?
A good percentage of people are requesting non-keyboard version so this could be a compromise that will please everyone, or maybe not.
It's never been done before so it could be a game changer.
It still has dpad and keyboard challenge for different countries will be significant, but still could be next step.

No hardware qwerty keyboard, no sale, addition of the dpad would be nice.

That's just me though.

Predictive text may make onscreen keyboards somewhat usable for prose, but is completely useless in a shell, or when editing code.

I think they should just try it one time.

Makes me wonder what the learning curve would be with that one row keyboard. T9 typing aside, one would have to learn a new keyboard, for all intents and purposes.

I don't mean to compare it to the iPhone, but I have to give it to Apple, the onscreen iPhone keyboard is actually pretty good when it comes to text prediction.

It could take them/us (meaning changes from feedback of open source ui) some years to master the one row keyboard with on screen compensation but in the end it could be the end all be all device profile, possibly.

If they were going to make a 12 key keypad, why not just make it a T9 slider/candybar and be done with it?

Anyone who favours QWERTYs (be it hardware or on-screen) are going to hate that keyboard.

Eh, it's just a Nokia cellphone keypad rearranged.

I would like to call into question selling any devices allowing anyone to type without first learning a CLI.
