I'm running OS2008 on my N800.

I recently downloaded the Bomberman app from the application catalog and soon found out that i didn't like it. So i went to delete the program... and it worked (or so i thought). But when i went to my extras menu to make sure it was gone (where i stored the game) the icon was still there. Why wasn't the icon deleted along with the application??? (By the way... the icon is still there. When i click it, nothing happens.)

PLEASE HELP!!!

I believe that you can remove the .desktop file for the bomberman app from the following path, and all *should* be well.

/usr/share/applications/hildon/

Make a backup of the file first if you are unsure.

I have the same bomberman problem. Read your solution, but (stupid question, newbie) how do I get to /usr/share/applications/hildon/

I loaded GPE-Filemanager, found the links, but can't click or view on anything?

Thanks.

You can do it from the command line by typing the following within a shell:

Code:
rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/bomberman.desktop
I do not have my N800 on me right now, so verify that the .desktop file is named correctly. This should do the trick.

You'll have to log in as root to remove the file. Do this by using the Application Manager to install rootsh then type "sudo gainroot" on the command line.

I installed rootsh from App Manager, but I can't locate the application anywhere, though it is verified to be in my install apps. Where does it reside after I install it or how do I get to it.

FYI, on the maemo download page for this app, http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/rootsh/

it notes that the install file seems not to be working at the moment. Does that have anything to do with not finding the app. or am I missing something else?

Thanks much.

Hi,

rootsh must be used from the command line :

1) Launch "X Terminal"
2) type "root" (without the quotes) and press return
3) type "rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/bomberman.desktop" and press return

that's it !

ok, after I type root and hit return, I get Nokia-N800-51-3:~#

I type the rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/bomberman.desktop (without the quotes, and with the quotes)

I get the same results, "not found" and bomberman is still there.

any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

You might want to type "ls /usr/share/applications/hildon" to list out what files are in that directory. Then search for the bomberman.desktop file in the list of files, maybe it is spelled differently or something.

Thank you so much, that did it, saw the list of names, it was bomberman.desktop, but I was blind and did not see the "space" after rm /usr/share/applications/hildon/bomberman.desktop

Drove me nuts with that bomberman icon.... thanks again all.
