My friend over Skype complained that my voice sounded worse than my deskptop computer. When I tried the "Maemo Recorder" software, the setting for the sampling rate can't go upper than 8000 Hz.
Does the Nokia N800 microphone sampling rate of 8000 Hz is hardware limitation, a driver limition or just a setting somewhere in deep in a config file?
I read in another thread some time ago that you'd have to use the DSP if you want to record at higher sampling rates. So it can be done, but takes extensive coding. I don't know if skype uses it or not.
