I tried to install docreader after installing antiword. Install failed - missing three files. Any suggestions? n800/2008.

Did you do the "repostory" change?
Search for repository, they misspelled it for a while.

When you think about how M$ refuses to port any of their apps, even the most simplistic (ie. Word viewer) to Linux, it makes you realize how greedy and selfless this company is. I realize that Linux is a competitor, but seriously, what harm will there be if they had the full suite of their file viewers available for Linux users. I think if M$ made Linux versions of some of their apps, it would gain so much more respect from the community.

This is what I hate about Microsoft. Even though I am a big XP user, and I too am guilty of using MS Office all the time, I hate this company for the way it is so domineering in trying to have everyone on Windows. I wish more people at work would use the free office suites and transition to that instead of MS Office.

I think one day there will be a shift and it will happen. The big companies (office users) need to get more involved in making this happen.

Ahhh! ye 'ole "repostory" issue come back to bite me in the .... Yes, I had that change implemented on my n800. Thank you for the reminder.

Unfortunately, after undoing the "respotory" fix and refreshing the application list, I still have the problem installing docreader . I get an error that says the following application packages are missing:

hildon-fm1(>=1.14)
hildon-libs0(>=0.14.11-1)
libdbus-1-2 (>=0.61)

Hello guys, if those libraries are needed, you won't install docreader -as is- on n810/os2008. Those are available only for the 2007 edition of the OS, and not for os2008. So you will have to wait for someone to port docreader to os2008. Or you could do it yourself.

On the other hand, if you could install and run antiword, you don't need docreader, which is only a graphical user interface to antiword. Just use antiword on the command line, to convert doc files in pdf or text files, which you will be able to open with the default n810 apps.
