I installed remote control app for songbird player, to open you have go to desktop-pc:3690, N900 autofixes the url to http://desktop-pc.com:3690 How can I bypass this?

Link to that app http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1764

OK, i managed to login using 192.168.1.2:3690, but the UI is far from usable Buttons are very tiny and FFWD works only with stylus and pointer enabled.

This is open source project, but probably there is no one who could fix the UI

The project site for the code http://wilco.ismysite.co.uk/doku/telescope seems to be down at the moment so I can't look at the API or the docs.

But I'd imagine you could probably edit the style/layout of the web interface on your local pc (assuming you are comfortable with Html/JS I'd guess).

If I could see the Webservice API might be able to help more.

http://www.awilco.net/doku/telescope

maybe the correct url for this and is available. Web services are using JSON for the return payload, just installing the Linux client (not on the primary songbird site) then I'll install the extension and see if I can offer any quick suggestions on it.

cheers

There's a whole bunch of html, images and css in the SONGBIRD/PROFILE/extensions/telescope@awilco.net/ui
directory on the host pc. So you could take a backup of that and hack around with the images and css to see if you can make it more user friendly. If you know css it's not that hard.

However, it can be very time consuming to reskin it well and it may get overwritten when updates for the extension are released.

If you can program and know JSON it may be easier to create a native app. The vlc-remote codebase could provide a reasonable place to start in Qt.

Incidentally, the web interface stops responding on my n900 from time to time - I suspect it's due to the size of my media library, which makes me feel like a real app may be more stable.
