hey guys,
Does anyone know if it possible to add more video codecs to the standard media player of the N900?
Right it it is great but at some point, some videos are not supported even though it is in divx or xvid format. If the resolution is too high it will not play at all. And if the movie encoded in a slight different than usual it will also not playable.

MOV, MKV, VOB, MP4 (h264)..etc

I am wandering if anyone can porting some codecs pack for this awesome device. It would make the device lives for a very long time. We just need a better codecs support to make this video player perfect.

Hi, there is decoder code pack already available for download in repository. It does not support all above but good start.

Lol I don't want to stream though, I want to be portable. Stream will be trans-coding which doesn't count as codecs on the N900

mplayer & GUI KMPlayer + Decoder code pack.
Show's subtitles named same as movie.

Start KMPlayer, click toolbar and choose KMPlayer if you don't see subtitles.

I downloaded the codecs support from extras. Xivid and Divx movie rips play however I notice the frame rate is lower than on the pc, are there any settings that I can tweak to improve frame rate during playback, seems as though it is dropping a few fps....or would I have to reencode to a lower bitrate?

Anyone managed to get decent FLV playback anywhere on the n900? (outside of the browser)

Is there some way I could invoke Flash for local files?

FLV plays fine if you install Zoutube since it will also install codecs for playing FLV in the media player. Please note that 720p resolution is too much for the N900, though.
