Announcing http://kumatux.org/ version 1.5, this is a MAJOR upgrade.

kumatux.org is a full system of scripts enabling you to `install' any app just by linking it with symlinks in a special way.

You don't need root privileges to install any app.

Most of all, it doesn't touch the base underlying system, i.e. the system stays COMPLETELY clean, you can have a number of versions of the same app installed at the same time, you can upgrade, downgrade easily, you can run different versions of any app at any time.

Home: http://kumatux.org/
Download: http://kumatux.org/Download.html
Usage: http://kumatux.org/Manual.html

It works on any GNU system, I use it to install and run almost 100% of apps on the Nokia N900, as well as my GNU PC.

This is commandline software, so you need to be comfortable working in the CLI, not a beginner.

I was a happy kumatux/emacs user on my n900 until a recent repair and reflash and pr1.3 installation. I'm trying to reinstall kumatux (now 1.5.2) and emacs. Everthing was going well until the "remap keyboard" step: wget fails with message
"error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object: No such file or directory". Would you be willing to give me some guidance.
Thank you.

Wget requires openssl.

You can download it from http://kumatux.org/Applications.html and wget'll work.

Thanks, that did it. Sorry, not sure how I missed it before on your apps page.
