Was it aloud?
No...
I didn't hear anything.
...
Mind you this is a "written" medium...
So doubtless no one else heard anything spoken aloud either.

I did not say it failed the theme. The first post set out the theme explicitly and all the entries, including yours, were perfectly within the rules. I said all the entries tried really hard to fit the theme by taking the alternative meaning of the word portrait. Only robthebold was brave enough to take the primary meaning:

portrait [ pawr-trit, -treyt, pohr- ]
noun
  1. a likeness of a person, especially of the face, as a painting, drawing, or photograph:
    a gallery of family portraits.
  2. a verbal picture or description, usually of a person:
a biography that provides a fascinating portrait of an 18th-century rogue.

Isn't it time for counting the votes, BTW?

I would argue that it's more profile than portrait but......

Err, no. A profile is a sideways picture, showing one half of the face.
You can take a portrait in the profile. Like robthebold did

...which is still considered as profile photo by.......... well, probably everyone. By your definition photo of a butt is also a portrait, and that might be correct but I doubt that's what majority think about when you say "portrait" photo.

So unless I missed any or my counting competence has departed, kinggo is our winner. Congratulations! What's the November theme?

I personally loved the lively discussion of what a portrait was. And we even got an "as seen by Jolla" self portrait!

For the record, I didn't really try to hide Timmy's face -- I just couldn't get him to peel away and give the camera back to the band-dad he'd borrowed it from, so I took a snapshot since it was cute. It wasn't till the next day I realized that it really portrayed who he was: a little boy who loves gadgets and who can strike up conversations with grownups and get them to talk about what they're doing (and loan him their expensive stuff). Everybody likes to talk about themselves, he's figured that out!
