Stylus control?! Stylus control... Damn! Never thought of that!

EDIT: Just tried playing Q2 with stylus and it dramatically improves playability!

Yeah! Me too But I think arrow keys are much better than a dpad. i played gba on my E71 and the dpad was annoying.

Accelerometer to walk, tapping the screen to aim and fire. Obviously. :P

The only issue is that Quake just isn't Quake without frantic jumping and stylish manoeuvres, and you just can't replicate this properly on a touchscreen (neither on a gamepad). There are some interesting free games that run on the Q3 engine though (no extra data files required):

In the game Bounce Evolution (on the N900), shaking the device "up" (accelerometer) makes the character jump. "Shake gestures" could be coded for things like strafing, etc.

I would prefer:

- Strafing with the arrow keys
- Forward Backward with the arrow keys
- looking: stylus OR keys on the left side
- shooting: camera or volume button on the top!
- jumping: space

You need to experience the accelerometer.

I think the accelerometer should be used sparingly as best, I already laugh too much when I see iPod Touch users that look like they are trying to give their iPod a happy ending
