So my gf kept saying to me "do you have some secret lover or something... why do you always check your phone????" To which I replied, no I am unfortunately just a huge nerd and I am seeing if there was any news on the Meego and/or PR 1.2 front. I then went on to explain that I am such a nerd that I am a) more likely to be looking at engadget that p0rn at any given time and b) way more likely to watch star trek reruns at 2 am than skinemax.

It got me thinking.... I'm sure others here have some amusing stories about how their rabid n900 enthusiasm and/or general geekiness has put them in some amusing social situations. Please do share!!

Is this another thread where tech-geeks are trying to move out of the nerd-corner by stating they have a "girlfriend"?

And no, family members, blow-up dolls, a phone-number of a girl you knew back in highschool, your right/left hand and anything which cannot be touched simply DO NOT COUNT AS GIRLFRIENDS.

My girlfriend bought an Omnia II and a few days later I bought the N900.

When I showed her Angry Birds and Bounce, she became jealous.
When she saw that I installed dozens of apps for free, but we couldn't find more than a few freeware apps for WM, she became even more jealous.

lol me and my girlfriend are both doing computer science and are huge geeks, so its the complete opposite..

In general I have found that being a geek is now cool, so I have no problems with that. Just remember geek != nerd...

As much as i'd love to agree with u, sadly ur wrong. The N900 is still in development, not many apps/games are available for download, let alone the bug fixing and firmware updates......

There're tons of apps for WM, if u know the right place to download from. Also, XDA-Developers provides tons of custom WM roms for the Omnia or mostly the HTC devices.

I know this because i own a HTC Touch Pro and installed custom WM 6.5 roms on it, and have over 500 apps/games on it (yes i'm not exaggerating, i downloaded them from certain forums if u get what i mean).

So basically at this point, Maemo is still at the development stage, it needs to do a lot to catch up to where the Iphone, Android and WM market is at.

My wife knew from very beginning she is going to lost/miss me for next couple of weeks. But because she loves me even didn't try to stop me

Because I'm appreciated for that sometimes pretending that I am not really looking at my N900. But for got sake is almost impossible when I see the yellow exclamation mark!!!
