Ehe12, there is some confusion to be cleared up here. My experience was with trying to find a clean download source for WisMencoder and you were responding on the assumption that it was to do with your file on Megaupload. On that particular occasion my system came under the most concerted attack ever so you may understand my unease.

I am always appreciative of suggestions which help make our computer experience better so I have come back to this subject. The most useful site for this app that I have found, for English speakers at least, is the Meizu Forum - interestingly enough. Along with download directions, there is even an English tutorial here
http://en.meizu.com/userforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1083

I have installed the app and, apart from the interface being in Chinese, I have reservations concerning limitations in its options. For me there are much better apps around, many of which have already been posted about on the ITT forums. If WinMencoder suits your purposes then of course that is fine. If you want to check out some of the other choices then do a search here under ‘Handbrake’ and if I can help in any way then let me know.

You can give a try to this free tool

Hope this help
Thank you very much for the link, this is a real find.

I have installed it and run a test file successfully – MOV to AVI. The app looks great and I am sure that I will use it. It is free and if I can find a Donate button then I shall contribute to its development.

so.... the .avi DOES NOT have a virus?

Anyway, the quality is good. I don't see much of a reason to switch From the n800 converter but i will try it. I'm always looking for new converters.

Thanks for the links as well Rebski.
Ehe12, please make better use of links in future posts.

Like I said, I was referring to my experiencing in downloading WisMencoder and not ehe12's file. I have never downloaded his .avi.

Hence the confusion, we were talking at cross purposes.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Thanks for your reply. Do u know a lot about 770/800's system? I recently flashed my 800 into OS2008 and tried to install a chinese font. in os 2007, just use these command lines:

cp /media/mmc1/simsun.ttf /usr/share/fonts

fc-cache -f

THEN reboot and the font will be recognized by OS.

but in OS 2008, when I did the same line, it noticed me:" cp: cannot remove '/user/share/fonts/':No such file or directory.

I guess the file directory in 2008 isn't the same as in 2007.I am pretty sure the command line has no problem but the file directory. How should I revise the command line to make the job done?

I, too, have flashed my N800 to OS2008. Sorry but I don't have the technical knowledge to help with your problem.

Although I do recall others posting with observations on non-engllish fonts. Have you tried a search on the fourm? Some guidance may already be available.

I did. turns out the "user" folder is actually "usr"...I already added chinese support into my n800 using this way. should be ok to add the other fonts if you have the font source.

I don't know Nokia managed to market this product. To me it is an expensive MP3 player. If I had know this before, I would have gone fora i-touch or i-phone. Thanks for your help
Hi, the N800 will playe videos well and act as a PMP, BUT
you have to learn how to convert the videos first. Try Media Converter - its really simple - you just have to pick a few settings - and its very fast. So in a few minutes you can have a video ready to watch on your N800.

Actually, WinMencoder is a frontend of Mencoder, I use it a lot for my MP4 player.

Author's webpage here:

and also a direct link:

This link above comes from one of the biggest download site of China, so can be trusted.

enjoy.

BTW: you can setup configuration and save to file for later use.
