Can anyone tell if we'll have a better brightness control in N900?
I mean, everyone knows that the difference between value 4 and 5 of brightness is huge, and it shouldn't.
I know there's simple brightness applet, but it would be better if steps 3, 4 and 5 has better control.

I concur.
Wouldn't a volume-style sliding bar be better than 5 or 6 steps?

Easy to make in x-term
First step:
sudo gainroot
second step:
echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/acx565akm/brightness
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9-------250,251,252,253,254,255
echo 255 > /sys/class/backlight/acx565akm/brightness
You can choose.

It is easier, if you make a little shell script, and run from the desktop.

I tried that, and it works.
If I change it again, it will loose the settings...
Let me see if I got it right:

You choose the brightness, it will "echo" to /sys/class/backlight/acx565akm/brightness some level, for example "63", if you choose another, it'll "echo", like, "100".

Is it right?

So, can't I change the simple brightness applet to echo different values?

Thanks!
