It seems that the maintainer is jophish. Send a private message to him? He seems to be inactive, though.
Maybe, repository maintainers know what should be done.

Just send a request to become maintainer via repo's infrastructure. If old maintainer doesn't answer in, lets say, 14 days, contact technical staff and they will make you maintainer using their godly powers.
Thanks for compiling it, and please, ensure that it lands in repos - not many things are worse than packages floating on some random TMO topics.

So here are my builds of the ncmpc player and libmpdclient as dependency (latest versions).
UPDATE 12/6/2014:
It is in extras-devel now so you can install it with application manager or:
ncmpc
libmpdclient
P.S.
I might add it to the extras-devel repo but there is libmpdclient in older version already, maintained by someone else. What then?
