recently, the Nokia maps application on my N900 has stopped working. when initialized, it just shows the start-up screen and the blue status bars keeps moving but nothing happens, it doesn't even try to connect to gps. I've tried 3rd party software to check if my gps was working and it is connecting properly.
Is there anyway to re-install the Nokia maps application, because i could not find its link in the application manager.
Please Help!!

I have had a similar thing happen before. I sort of solved my issue by moving my /home/user/MyDocs/cities directory elsewhere and try reloading maps. I'm guessing there's a corrupt file or database somewhere.

The way to reinstall maps program is through the command line. Application manager won't show it because its part of system (specifically system/other). You maybe able to see them if you enabled red pill mode and checked boxes to show all packages including system packages.

The package names are:
  • nokia-maps-core
  • nokia-maps-ui
  • nokia-maps-maplets
