Yes. Indeed, I tried to install, copied the log to a doc and then cleared the log. Then I tried again to install Clawsmail and checked the log again...it was the same.

I went to Tool>Log in the application manager (assuming that was the correct place?).

Thanks.

OK, that log wasn't very usable. Could you try sudo apt-get install claws-mail and send the output here. You need the sudser package to make sudo working.

Here it is:

~ $ sudo apt-get install claws-mail
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
claws-mail: Depends: libhildonfm2 (>= 1:2.0.6.1) but 1:2.0.5 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Okay, that might be more than I can figure out right now. I checked out bunason's post and I'll have to poke around more to see if I understand how to follow those instructions and where it will get me.

Here's another stupid question: what's the difference between the 5.2008.43.7 update and the ones available on the Nokia software update site?

Thanks for you patient help though.

Hmmm, I can't even update to 4.2008.36-5. I get the following:

Unable to update OS2008 Feature upgrade
Application packages missing: pre-installed-documentation-rx44(=5.4)

What did I delete?

Updating to 5.2008.43.7 won't have that problem. There has been some discussion on that in the forum.
