Hi All,

I'm looking for a way to compile Meego Harmattan from sources, and then make it with current versions of software and libs.

I hear there is CDs with source codes and compile instructions.

Could you please advice me some good links/howtos?

Thank you!

Great, thank you!

Is there some people did it already? To ask some questions

The source DVD only contains the open source parts of Harmattan; you cannot create a complete release with what's available.

I'm sorry to say it is highly possible that the original source repositories do not exist any longer.

Can I extract non-opensource parts from existing device?

Wel yes but I'd say it is quite a task to do and what you'd end up with is would be only partly up-to-date.

Consider the bugs in the non-open parts that are very difficult to fix without access to the source, a good example is @thp's emojifix
This is a crazy stunt involving a drop-in library that has been hacked by patching the broken code manually in the binary! That's at least an order of magnitude more difficult than a simple source fix would have been

Well, reverse-engineer the binaries. But that will probably take decades.

I think that's being done for Fremantle and it indeed has been going on for about a decade now. As far as I understand Leste is what has emerged from that work and it indeed needs a whole lot of groundwork before getting anything useful out of it.
