Clever, apparently it's not a hard coded thing like it is in the Motorola devices. Too bad they had to waste effort and time reacting to a dick move from Samsung.

Looking gooood!

It seems that Epic has the famous demo Epic Citidel up and running on a Galaxy S! This is the engine powering the graphically AMAZING infinity blade for iOS devices. It hasn't been released yet, but it's running now, and is a milestone for development.

http://www.slowdown.vg/2011/01/24/in...es-jay-wilbur/

But not everything is sunshine and kittens. The interview reveals that the Android hardware fragmentation makes development more difficult as does the multitude of Android App stores.

Wilbur: One of the problems with the Android marketplace is hardware fragmentation, that’s a really big issue. The other thing is marketplace fragmentation, there are so many different appstores out there. The Android marketplace is a little more difficult [to develop for] because there is less control. I think the Android marketplace is robust … I find it very easy to buy things on it, it’s just that Apple has very tight control. So anything in the Apple world is perfect. It’s just perfect. We like that, we like that a lot. We know that it’s just gonna work. Sometimes that’s not always the case in the Android marketplace.
Interesting times ahead. Still, it's nice to know that Android is attracting the largest of names.

Google I/O 2011 is just around the corner, and Google has put up a countdown page:

May 10-11, 2011
http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/index.html (hint: drag the I/O logo)

Here's an early list of the presentations:

Android will no-doubt be a major focus of the show. I'm looking forward to it!

I've got Meego to boot on the device: http://people.bath.ac.uk/enpsgp/Tab/PICT0040.JPG

No input yet, but even getting it booting makes me happy what with the various hoops that needed to be jumped through. Next step is to get some sort of UI and input up and running, and to detail the process on the Meego wiki.

There's a thread on forum.meego.com which is where I'll start adding more info for those interested: http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?p=16426

Whew! Good thing he didn't trip into a fountain! Excellent commercial! Honestly, this seems to eerily reflect my typical day, though. [darts eyes side to side suspiciously]

Looks like Google is betting the farm (or at least the farmhouse and barn, and much of its acreage) on Android. According to DailyTech:
Google Hiring Spree Will See Over 6,000 New Workers in 2011

http://www.dailytech.com/Google+Hiri...ticle20754.htm

Apparently, most of these hires will be working on Android. Android will certainly be a force to be reckoned with. Now, I just hope that Google plans to allocate some of these users to fixing broken things rather than simply adding additional features.
