p.s. the negeo zip file when unzipped should have 4 files neo-geo.rom, ng-lo.rom, ng-sfix.rom, ng-sm1.rom right??

the latest version of xgngeo, I thought fix the problem with having to chmod from the command line.
it doesn't.
so you need xterminal, and you have to run the commands.

apt-get install nano = maybe needed if you are a total newb.

start XTerminal

sudo gainroot
mkdir /home/user/.xgngeo
nano /home/user/.xgngeo/xgngeo.conf
control+o
control+x
chown user:users /home/user/.xgngeo
chown user:users /home/user/.xgngeo/xgngeo.conf

if you follow those steps, you should have it running in no time
