I want to bring IVAN (http://www.attnam.com or http://ivan.sourceforge.net) to N900.

BUT here's the thing: I compiled the source (http://www.attnam.com/downloads.php?id=7) and it seems to run nicely in Scratchbox, apart from slight clipping because of the resolution.

When ran from X-term on the real N900 though, all the input is redirected to the console window which makes it impossible to control the app. Also, the mouse cursor is visible for some reason.

Does anyone want to take a look? The .deb is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?88amhblasduxzh1

The cursor shows by default on all SDL apps ported to Maemo, you have to disable it somehow. The text being redirected to console could be fixed if you would make a menu entry for the game (not necessarily, but worth a try).

You mean a desktop shortcut? Already tried that - still no go.

I can't help you with the development of this, trompkins, but I'd like to show my support! I'd love to see IVAN on the N900, I love playing it on my laptop during slow moments at work and to have it running on the N900 would be a dream come true, I love playing POWDER, another Roguelike on the bus, for example!

Good luck getting it to work!

Aw-right, done!

This is based on the beta version by nukes (http://www.attnam.com/downloads.php?id=7).

The keys:
Ctrl+left = move SW
Ctrl+right = move SE
Ctrl+up = move NW
Ctrl+down = move NE
Shift+left = <
Shift+right = >
All the other keybindings are accessible upon pressing '?'.

Here's the .deb: http://www.mediafire.com/?dz117s82jplhtu9
And here's the source: http://www.mediafire.com/?g5jctwcsy0hyco3

If anyone wants to take this up to extras-testing - be my guest.

The up and down keys (FN + left and FN + right) are not working with Finnish keyboard. :/

Oh crap... Well, you could try using the other layout (Configuration > Use alternative direction keys), which is laid out as following:

7 8 9
\ | /
U- -O
/ | \
J K L

A bit awkward at first, with the numeric keys being the main issue, but I got quite used to it after a few minutes.

OR

You could just type in the terminal:

setxkbmap us

which automagically transforms your keyboard like so:

To return to your default layout you'd have to type:

setxkbmap fise

I hope that helps.
