i recently bought an n800 as a back up tablet, aftr updating it to diablo & some personal configurations, i tried to install the iptables module as the n810 had, but it wouldn't take.. ooh well..

out of curiosity, i decided to do an nmap scan on it & smiled @ the results -

&

the scan result mentioned the tablet running a fortinet embedded system among other things - http://www.fortinet.com/products/mod...e_modules.html

just thought i'd post this muse to produce some smiles..

Too many fingerprints match this host to give specific OS details
nmap could not find out the OS type, so it's just making a guess.

Your nmap is almost 2 years old (12 January 2008).

Not one service is found (no open port) which makes it much more difficult for p0f. If you ran it through router or bridge you might see different result.

Such detection is also rather easily masqueraded, and the fingerprints of Chinook or Diablo can just be added to the db.

Why bother with nmap? You have full shell (including root) access on the device itself, and netstat can give you the same information (actually more, because nmap by default only scans a small set of ports, and according to the screenshots you didn't tell it to scan the entire range) in a few milliseconds.

nmap is still useful to see what the 'bad guys' might see from outside the device.
