Vodafone sees your phone as a phone that can not receive mms. You need to contact vodafone and ask them to change their settings for your account.

I hadn't received an mms for a while and then suddenly my friend sends me a video from his Iphone. I was like oh snap we can take videos in? can we send them out???! I have been out of the loop but i havent tried and since you can pick low quality i figured that would be possible now. Anyone can verify??

I too am having problems sending and receiving, its never really worked, although i have successfully received about 3 mms' out of the many many that i have received and sent about 2, but i dont know why these ones worked (all this was prior to PR 1.2!)

I am on vodafone UK, running PR 1.2 and using fmms version 1.1.9. I have contacted vodafone and they confirm mms is enabled on my account, so i got them to disable, and then re-enable it again to see if that would make a difference - it didnt

I have tried both these settings.....

Vodafone UK

* Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
* MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
* Username: wap
* Password: user
* HTTP Proxy: 212.183.137.12
* Port Number: 8799

OR

* Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
* MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms/
* Username: wap
* Password: wap
* Proxy: 212.183.137.12
* Port number: 9201
Neither of these work, nor can i find any that do. When trying to send i get either "Operation failed, timed out" or "Operation failed, unable to contact operator" (or something like that).

Ive attached the logs for when trying to receive a mms using each of the settings above, they are distinguished by the port number.

Any help on this would be massively appreciated, cheers.

I also got T-Mobile USA to send me three test MMS messages. I only received one out of the three and it was about a day late. On top of that I had them cross-check my settings in fMMS ( access point, MMSC, user name, password, HTTP proxy and port number ) using the Nokia N95 as a reference, ( they don't support the N900 ) and everything checked out OK. That said, when I tried to download the test MMS message that got to me I got the same "Unable to retrieve message" error from fMMS.

i have had no problems with t-mobile usa and fmms. t-mobile uses the epc.tmobile.com as the mms apn so you dont even have to make a 2nd connection.

apn: epc.t-mobile.com
mmsc: http://mms.msg.eng-tombile.com/mms/wapenc

all the rest of the settings blank

Hey there, I can't get fMMS to send or receive. I'm on the `Crazy John's' network (Australia), PR1.2. I'm using the settings at http://wiki.maemo.org/MMS.

(snip)

Any ideas?

EDIT: Fixed it, managed to receive a message by changing settings (removed proxy), however it's hit-or-miss at the moment, and giving me different errors at different times. Stay tuned!

I've tried these settings with fmms 1.1.9 - with the obvious typo fixed in the mmsc - and attempts to send anything fail with the error

Code:
Operation failed
(-2, 'Name or service not known')
Please check your settings.
I cannot seem to find the magical settings to make MMS work for me.

I've also tried the above ( ie. APN of epc.t-mobile.com and MMSC of http://mms.msg.eng-tmobile.com/mms/wapenc, everything else blank) as well as all variations on the recommended settings for T-Mobile USA in the MMS wiki article ie. I changed the port to 9102 and also tried an MMSC of http://208.67.216.231/servlets/mms but to no avail -- I still get "Unable to retrieve message." :/
