Hey all!

my NIT advised me to remove some files as my internal memory was down to 6MB.
so looking for the largest files first, I found this xulrunner file at 15MB.
is it safe to uninstall or does it allow simething else to run on the device?
fyi: I am running Fenec. Is it tied to that?

while on this subject, I assume that libwebkit is what Tear is running on so it probably is not safe to remove? after all, it's 14MB!
thanks

Yep, xulrunner is used by fennec.

Yup, libwebkit is used by tear.

I'm pretty sure Xulrunner is needed by Fennec. It is installed when you install Fennec. Same thing goes for Tear and libwebkit.

so probably a good idea to not run both...

also, anyone know what the "tutorial home applet" is? it's 3.9MB!

If you're pressed for space, probably. Personally, I'd suggest keeping tear. IMO it is less quirky than fennec.

Sorry, no. I uninstalled that ages ago.

Have you already removed the built-in media (pictures, movie, music)?

Can you post the results of "dpkg -l | grep '^ii'" from your tablet, which will show all the packages you have installed? From that, we can point out the things you might not need.

Or, better yet, try this command to list all installed packages in order by size (largest last):

dpkg-query -W --showformat='${Installed-Size} ${Package}\n' | sort -n

Josh; I think I'm ok for now...will keep that in mind for later.

As far as Tear goes, is the libwebkit only tied to it or are there other apps it runs as well?

believe it or not, I am preferring Fenec as my browser of choice.

If you're uninstalling it from Application manager, clicking on the 'Details' button, then the 'Uninstalling' tab will show you what else depends on it.

For me, it says that both tear and webkit-eal need it. I'd guess that you don't have webkit-eal installed though.

I'd believe it. Fennec is pretty nice, it just has some quirks that I don't like. I mainly use tear, but both fennec and MicroB get occasional use on my N800.
