I installed openssh 4.2 and osso-xterm 0.12 on my 2005 OS Nokia 770 today. My goal is to run the SSH client only - so that I can attach to a linux server I run on my local network.

After installing SSH (running the install script) successfully, I can't seem to find the ssh command so I can run the client.

On my linux server the command is just "ssh <IP ADDRESS>". I poked around but can't find where SSH is located.

It's kind of a stupid question, but can anyone point me in the right direction?

Upgrade to 2006 is my first suggestion. If I remember right, it stores ssh under /var/ look for lib and application files there.

Sorry I can't be more help, but when I had 2005 I installed most my aps using the dpkg method so it set up somewhat right, and upgraded to 2006 in July and never looked back.

Thanks, Rattis.

Took your advice and upgraded. Since I am new to 2006 OS, now I have a follow up question.

I went to the application wiki and found the repository data for openssh:
Repository : http://repository.maemo.org
Distribution : mistral
Component : free

Typed this data into Application Manager on my Nokia to add a new repository. It seemed to accept it, but when regenerating the list of applications, it found a few things, but not OpenSSH.

I tried to search for a location where the 2006 version of OpenSSH exists, but can't find it through Google. I can only find references to the 2005 OS version.

Where do I find the app installer file at?

Thanks

Aha! So it's a problem with the repository then. I just started a thread about Maemopad+ not showing up from the same repository.
I guess we'll have to wait a bit...

OpenSSH isn't in the "user" section, so it doesn't show up.

Open X Terminal and type (as root) apt-get install openssh, I thought this was quite clearly explained in the Application Catalogue? Ah, yes:

Thanks, Andrew.

I wasn't familiar with apt-get. I thought it was something you ran to install the OpenSSH program *after* downloading a .deb file. I did not realize that apt-get did it all.

I'll run it tonight and see what I get.
