Hmm... data, perhaps? Could it be triggered by something specific to the UK maps?
config is probably different. When compared to me, hardware is different, but I expect we have plenty of people using J1 or Sony X*.

The only UK specific bug I am aware of is related to slow parsing of addresses (https://github.com/rinigus/geocoder-nlp/issues/57). Shouldn't prevent shutdown though.

There have always been things specific to the UK, even before Brexit: separate hot and cold water taps, nostalgia for the "good old days" of the empire, refusing to learn foreign languages or accept foreign cultures in general...

But I was thinking about some genuine differences that might affect the navigation, like driving on the wrong side of the road or using postcodes which, as I understand, is not so common elsewhere.

Probably. Here is mine.

OSM Scout Server:
  • Languages: en, sk
  • Profile = Default

@pichlo, let's try to simplify our case. Would you mind testing it with online services and without map matching? That would eliminate OSM Scout Server from our issue.

I am a very strong opponent of online services, especially for things that absolutely do not need to be online, such as navigation.

But what would I not do for the common good

Just two questions:
1) What service do you suggest?
2) What will it prove if I do not hit the problem? I think we have already concluded that the problem is in OSM Server or the link between it and Pure Maps.

It shouldn't be permanent switch, but for debugging purposes.

I am missing a notification where we proved that the problem is related to OSM Scout Server. I have not looked through our old discussion though.

As for suggested services, you could use defaults of online profile: Mapbox GL for maps, Stadia for routing, Photon for search.

If it shows that there are no problems, then we have to look into server<->client interaction. If the problem persists, we will look into Pure Maps and OS interaction. For example, maybe you are crossing prime meridian and that drives some logic crazy.

Thanks, rinigus. I will try it later today. Can't promise whether it will be during my lunch break or on the way home.

I think we can rule out the prime meridian. All my Pure Maps navigation needs so far have taken place in the western hemisphere. Just about

Don't forget about only using the metric system half of the time!

Last week I got the bug where after closing Pure Maps it continues to track location and provide voice routing; the only way I could find to close it was rebooting, reopening and closing Pure Maps didn't help.

I will have to look into this bug - simple reboot should not stop the navigation and should still prompt you how to reach the destination.

On a serious note - I reopened https://github.com/rinigus/pure-maps/issues/31 .

@taixzo: did you happen to use OSM Scout Server then or some online service? If online service, do you have the server installed and whether map matching is used?

Pure Maps is updated to 1.21.0

Main changes are addition of CS translation and automatic route calculation as soon as possible.

The automatic route calculation was suggested in this thread and is a part of https://mosushi.de/misc/puremaps/proposal2.png . The rest of the proposal has not been implemented yet, but I will work on it when I can. Few other things are planned to be sorted out first. But let's see whether such autocalculation works in practice for all of you.

In addition, maximal rounding has been reduced to 1 km/mile level; search engines supporting autocomplete are marked now as well (the both changes were suggested @TMO).

Finally, we have OpenTopoMap.org support as a map (contributed by jktjkt); Digitransit works on Linux desktops as well. I have also updated docs on installation on Linux for interested developers.
