don't expect too much, though. i've never seen one single ms office document opened correctly by freoffice. either freoffice crashes or it shows the document distorted, sometimes even leaving out blocks of content. i'd consider it an experiment at a very early stage.

If you wait a little longer theres a Freoffice update to be released soon. End of this week I think.

You might consider Openoffice (on easy Debian). It seems to give the most robust version of ms documents including reproducing equations if needed. But it is slow to bring up. Once you get going the response is ok. One big problem for me is the portability of documents. If I make a document using Open Office (or any of the available document applications), save it as a file.doc, and then, say, email it to some who looks at it with Word the resulting document will often have messed up fonts, margins and so forth. My preference is Latex but most people I work with use Word.

I started with EasyDebian/OO.o, but that was too cumbersome. Abiword and Gnumeric are available as "native" N900 Apps. These open much more quickly.

Can anyone recommend a decent Office viewer for the N900? I hear FreOffice is good but can't seem to find it anywhere to download. Any pointers would be much apprieciated!

Cheers.
