Rebski.

Engadget Chinese site http://cn.engadget.com/2009/03/30/ha...-one-hands-on/
Issues of stock OS I learned from Chinese forum:
- no flash support
- non-functioning bluetooth stack
- non-responsive touch screen
- long application start-up time (>3sec)
- no english UI

ARM based PDA's, MIDs, and Netbooks? (the Touch Book?)

Why not read the page that was linked in the post you're quoting?

In particular:
Making Maemo a generic platform for all tablet devices, including non-Nokia ones.
This includes x86 and other ARM devices (actually, there's some fun stuff here that's not public yet).

Thanks chunglam

For the non-Chinese speakers here is the English Google Translation

As for the hardware issues, these will be fixed by Linux drivers, I should imagine.

I did read it. "non-Nokia" doesn't answer my questions. And the main page doesn't indicate that this includes x86 devices. Nor does the about page. Nor did I see anything that answered my OTHER two questions.

  • ARM - Nokia N810
  • ARM - Nokia N800
  • ARM - Nokia 770
  • ARM - Beagleboard
  • ARM - Pocket Loox 720

Get a device to the developers and, assuming it's open enough/runs Linux, it's pretty likely they'll get Mer running on it :-)

some more pictures here. seems to imitate the n8x0 (or 770?, see the buttons on top). the bubbles wallpaper is also reminiscent of some Maemo theme. USB OTG out of the box, but can't see any reason to favor it over the n8x0 though.
