Right, make sure the server isn't running already, open task manager and check that there's no ruby.exe and vlc.exe running and if there is, kill them and try starting and configuring it again.

EDIT: And you didn't by any chance enable ssl which means you need to change the address to https://localhost:1978?

finally it's working now... it's connected and the VLC is true
now I don't know how to choose the directory that has my videos or music, I have them in a folder on my desktop

I think it's something like c:\Documents and Settings\Your username\Desktop.

thank you very much for all your help, it's working perfectly now but it's very slow when it comes to playing movies
