hello everybody

i'm even uploading the packages but I want you to know about
the new eclipse-bundles by the esdk project.

I released today a downloader on the project-page:
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/esdk/

to download these packages and you will be able
them download in the next hours...
(my downloading process is at 832MB of more than 3GB at 60kbit/S upload...)

you can choose then between these packages
Code:
1. official eclipse v3.3 (europa) package for i386 in english
2. official eclipse v3.4 (ganymede) package for i386 in english
3. esdk's eclipse v3.3 (europa) bundle for i386 in english
4. esdk's eclipse v3.4 (ganymede) bundle for i386 in english
5. esdk's eclipse maemo-edition bundle for i386 in english
6. esdk's eclipse v3.3 (europa) bundle for i386 in german
7. esdk's eclipse v3.4 (ganymede) bundle for i386 in german
8. esdk's eclipse maemo-edition bundle for i386 in german
sit back, relax and wait until I finished uploading the packages

greetings, thopiekar

I have fixed the bugs in the downloader and uploaded all
packages in english today.
Tomorrow, I will download the other packages in german, too.

This sounds cool - however neither the project page on Garage, nor your announcement here exactly explain what esdk gives. Eclipse-based: tick (points for this), SDK: tick (anything to make development's barrier to entry lower).

Is it Scratchbox + CDT + Eclipse bundled together? Is it Pluthon + ESBox + Eclipse? Is it Valable + Scratchbox + Eclipse? Is it something else?

about the project:
as you maybe already know the esdk-project will aim to make it easy to
develop programs for maemo devices in future.

the milestone of actually my project is:
1.
to bring up all of these packages and later multilanguage packages...
all eclipse packages include its eclipse version plus cdt, pydev, subclipse and myln.. eclipse and all plug-in's are up-to-date.
the eclipse-maemo* packages are the same as the eclipse-3.3* one , but these packages are exspecial made for maemo-developting, so the plug-inīs esbox and pluthon are included.

2.
as you can see on scm ( or however it was ) on esdk.garage.maemo.org you can see that I'm almost working on the program called esdk_installer.
it take the hole work, for example the system preparing stuff to install and run scratchbox om the users pc.

3.
last but not least there will be a sourcecode and example downloader. this downloader will download packages, like the planned canola2b10, or sourcecode of other packages. so the user will be able to take a quicker look howto use enlightenment-blindings in python, when looking on some already coded stuff.

I really don't want to tell to much by now, because I don't know whether I will keep up the project on myself up-to-date because it's for me lot's of work, because i'm even a beginner, too. but please be kind I'm just 17 years old and esdk is my first big project

greatings, thopiekar

Nope, assume I know nothing :-)

I have a dream of a nice, easy, Eclipse-based IDE for Maemo development. I think are are four possibilities:
  1. Pluthon & ESBox. Not had much luck with these yet, but Python is the de-facto second language of the tablets.
  2. Jalimo with some extensions.
  3. Valable
  4. Ruby-Maemo with RDT

thanks for your reply, Jaffa

if you want join the project on garage.maemo and we can think about a "extended" eclipse version which will contain all of your plugins...

I don't know you personaly, but I would even help the project, when you would test all eclipse packages for bugs

Its indeed very hard to work on a project like this alone and can even now understand why the canola-project has so much problems to bring-up the beta10!

And to the rest of the forum, who read this if you have time spend to please to test the packages for bugs and report them here!

- thanks and greetings, thopiekar
