Here is the package!
MythFrontend is running on my N900 but I can't connect to my MySQL db and the backend is reachable via ping :/

hope you can get it working or find the problem..

when we get it working we can decide on a default theme and split the others into subpackages and I'll make that package more lighter via kicking the backend out..

here is the package for the N900:
http://ul.to/bxnqi3o0

Tips:
1. Installation:
1.1. Enable extras and extras-devel
1.2. Use the Xterm and "sudo gainroot" to install it.

2. Using:
2.1. Controlling the UI is just possible in windowed mode:
mythfrontend -w

PS: seems that I missed to set as install-dep a "MySql" driver as I read out of the output of mythfrontend.. It is always falling back to SqlLite..
PSS: Installing libqt4-sql-mysql even dont make the trick :/
-> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4...-qmysql-driver
PSSS: can't fix that.. seems to be a problem at the qt-library
http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-19978
PSSSS: found out that the mysql-driver is not part of Qt4 in maemo and it was seperatly shipped in a single-binary package, which is out dated. The Qt4-libs in maemo don't provide the mysql-driver on their own :/

Updated the mysql-driver for qt4.
The MySQL driver which is available in extras-devel is outdated and built for 4.6.2 afair, so I updated that package and here you are:
http://ul.to/2knd9ddm

Upgrading that package with mine will make it work!

Tip:
Don't forget to uncheck checking the connection in mythfrontend's setup.

Only problem that has left is that it says that the time/timezone settings on my phone don't match with the one on the backend.
Try to install and give me some feedback

as I wrote above the timezones differ between the backend and the frontend and mythfrontend is kicking me out because of that.. hope to get someone at #mythtv-users to solve that..

But as you can see here (http://pastebin.com/BHTq8eDT) I can't understand where they differ.. they just differ in some minutes :/

PS: 10minutes differed and after fixing the time on the device it works now..
but I need to do some tweaking..

I've noticed that I made got on my device the rootfs full.. Where should I install the files, if I want to use the space on the device for applications?

Btw. here is the armel-neon optimized build. Don't expect too much. I just noticed the same preformance. Video is still lagging while Xorg and Pulseaudio reach high cpu usage.
I'll try it with MythTV from trunk which will have OpenGL ES support.

I noticed that I had problems with uploading on my my home machine which has got Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot on it..

Here are again all packages:
* MythTV 0.25 with OpenGL ES and NEON:
http://ul.to/osn8ynd5
* MythTV 0.24 with NEON:
http://ul.to/kzptu326
* MySQL driver for Qt4.7.0:
http://ul.to/qtzqrzj6

Can't test the 0.25 because I've got just a 0.24 backend in my network. 0.25 even allows VAAPI support which I would need for my netbook. I'm really thinking about upgrading my backend

Tip:
When upgrading a package you'll need to remove the older one, because there will be too less space on rootfs.
-> apt-get remove --purge mythtv-n900
I just need to know here to push the files in to fix that.. My N900's settings say that approx. 28% is used, but rootfs is full, as df says :/

PS: here is a Ubuntu PPA for 0.25:
https://launchpad.net/~mythbuntu/+archive/0.25

Got it running on my N900. nice work, thanks.

system exscape key doesn't work, cos there is no ESC key. I can remap, but then need to crash out so it does not get saved.

Playback of DVB-T (freeview) is very screwed up:
No audio
Video is extremely jumpy and completely messed up.

Getting lots and lots of "waited 100ms for video buffer" messages.

To be honest I am really surprised that it just did not crash out, and it may just need some config in the video playback settings.

The mythcenter wide theme seems to be a lot more responsive that Terra, hardly surprising as it is a lot lighter.

edit 2: with the video palyback profile set to sllim and the N900 overclocked to 850mhz the video playback is almost perfect.

still need to sort audio, and remap the exit/back key from ESC to something else.

nice to hear that! I asked on IRC for the best video output but as you said video is still jumpy with XVideo.. Hope OpenGL ES will change that.. How much MHz got the normal Maemo5 installation by Nokia?

PS: You don'T need to remap.. use mythtv's settings and change every BACKSPACE key to ESC and it will work fine.
Audio works well for me just lagging video..

Could you either compile and post the latest revision of mythfrontend from Git, or post specifics on compiling and packaging myself.

There are repeated messages in xterm "waited too long for video buffers... ) this has apparantly been fixed in git. I'm wondering if you used the stable source. Here is the forum thread about it

Running mythfrontend (overclocked granted) Mythfrontend uses approx 60-70% CPU, so it's not maxing out, so this may improve things.

Also I can look to upgrading my server to 0.25 as well.

I'll add the debian-folders for 0.24 and 0.25 as attachments.
I also noticed that the mythTV install needs to be prefixed to /opt/usr except to /usr (or whatever the default one is)

I think you know some basics in packaging, so ask if you need help at prefix'ing

The only think you need to do now is to get the code from Git and put the 0.24 debian folder into the mythtv-folder (not into the plugin or theme folder ) and run dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot in scratchbox.

Good luck
