So, it took me a bit longer.
New (only bugfixed) version 0.5.11 queued to devel:
Changes:
Bugfix for directory/file rights (falling back to execute script as user), when script is started as root.
Bugfix for detecting running instance(s) of sim-switcher and if so stop execution of current instance.

In the future for convenience it is possible to make the graphic interface (GUI) for options a config files SIM1 and SIM2.

New version 0.5.12 queued to devel.
Changes:
Bugfix: reordering and online check for activities after switch
(so now cell mode selection and internet works more reliable).

It annoyed me that for one SIM I could set the cell mode, but for the other one it did not work. Solved.
And sometimes internet connection could not be started automatically. (Hopefully) Solved also.

I would like to promote 0.5.12 to extras-testing, but I have seen that a few people have already voted for that package and I am missing only two "thumbs up" to get it to extras.
I feel like 0.5.12 is really stable and also fixes root/user rare issue (script called as root may cause write access problems). So I do not know what to do: push it to extras-testing and loose all karma or wait until 0.5.10 is in extras (would need two more)?

Updated OP with info and links about 2012 Coding Competition.

Push new one to -testing if it's stable enough, You will regain thumbs up pretty quickly Just be sure to post here a reminder with direct link to voting for package. It seems, from practice, that those works best.

C'mon guys, you are totally amazing!

SIM-Switcher made it second place in Other categories as well as second place in Beginners category.

Never expected to get that high in ranking.
Thank you all for your votes, feedback and support.

I just have seen that version 0.5.12 has got enough karma also.
Thanky you again!

Hello peterleinchen,
just thought about changing the icon style, here is a harmattan-ish one if you want

Thanks sifo.
As this was developed/tested only on N900, I did not think of "harmattanish" it at all. But it looks nice and will be integrated into next devel release.
Unfortunately to late for current version in testing repo (or wait, maybe the icon will be updated trough all repos iirc?)
