Now that I have my N770 working and able to connect to the internet, I want to install the maemo PIM apps - but I'm a complete newbie to linux and am certainly not a developer... could someone walk me through the steps of downloading and installing apps on the N770?

Thank you

I recommend you visit this link:
http://oss.kernelconcepts.de/maemo/app-install.shtml

I suggest you use your 770 to browse that page so you can install directly from your 770.

There are some common libraries that are shared among the 3 PIM apps, but once you have clicked on a dependency link, the link should change its color (visited) to indicate you have installed it already.

Keep installing the remaining files and when done, shutdown and restart your 770 just to be sure.

You should now find the PIM apps in a new folder called Extras.
