In my experience deb and rpm both have their advantages and disadvantages (just like vim and emacs ;-)). As other have stated, the decision is made and any more arguing is futile.

YaST2 is not a package manager. It includes one, which is based on zypper/libzypp.

You technically right, but I am happy to see the end of CLI-based apt* and dumb-and-restrictive HAM.

Never mind what is a reason.
