I'd like to connect my 770 to a WIN98 PC - connecting via USB brings up the new Hardware detection but I seem stuck on finding a suitable driver for WIN98.

The Nokia website has some WINXP/2000 drivers for the DKE-2 cable that was supplied but nothing that I can see for WIN98. Could anybody point me in the direction of a suitable driver I could use ?

No kid, you're talking an OS that's almost 10 years old ! Now with that said, I actually do have an old laptop with win98 where for kicks I was able to plug in a Bluetooth usb adapter for it and was I'm able to connect to it with my 770 via bluetooth to transfer files (the adapter had windows 98 drivers)...works in a pinch although BT is much slower then direct USB.

If the computer is that old, switch it over to Ubuntu. It'll run way faster.

Thanks for input :-)

It isn't a PC I really want to play around with and isn't networked to anything else. It would, on occaions be helpful if I could transfer some work related files from it to my 770 and just hooking up via USB would be the easiest and least complicated (in theory).

Since the 770 presents itself as a bog-standard storage device to the usb port, wouldn't the standard usb drivers for Windows 98 work?

What you need is some generic USB mass storage driver
Try this (haven't tried)

If it doesn't work out of box you may try tweak driver VID and PID values in driver ini file to match those of nokia 770 so the drive recognizes the device. For finding those values google for usbview.exe and run it when device is attached.

There is no such thing in windows 98, only W2k and up has them.
