All N900's should be absolutely identical (apart from individual wear and tear after months of usage - thus not relevant for a new device) and thus all N900's should be able to run exactly the same software. So an N900 bought today, might contain different software from an N900 bought tomorrow, but the one bought today can be updated to contain the same software as tho one bought tomorrow.
I hope this clears things up for you.

the Question is in buying the N900 from a retailer, aside from cheching the hardware to see if everything works properly is there also a differnce in the software? meaning if I buy an N900 today is there the possibility that an N900 bought tomorrow could have a higher version of software on it? Or is it that, due to the great awsomenessity of the N900 and Meamo 5, this question is obsolete and all N900s can update to be the same?
Thanks,
