I read the threads alot and have not so far come across this question, but if it has been posted before I apologize and appreciate if you point me in the right direction.

the Question is in buying the N900 from a retailer, aside from cheching the hardware to see if everything works properly is there also a differnce in the software? meaning if I buy an N900 today is there the possibility that an N900 bought tomorrow could have a higher version of software on it? Or is it that, due to the great awsomenessity of the N900 and Meamo 5, this question is obsolete and all N900s can update to be the same?

Thanks,

All N900's should be absolutely identical (apart from individual wear and tear after months of usage - thus not relevant for a new device) and thus all N900's should be able to run exactly the same software. So an N900 bought today, might contain different software from an N900 bought tomorrow, but the one bought today can be updated to contain the same software as tho one bought tomorrow.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Any device gets the latest firmware possible with predefined set of languages. So for example if UK release was on Dec 2009 and US release late Feb 2010 than UK will come with PR1.0 and US with PR1.1. March devices will come with PR1.1.1.

But everyone should be able to update his version as well.

is there like a double thanks botton on this?! =D

Thanks, so the only thing I should be careful of is not to get one of the pre-release sets flying around

With that I will sleep well tonight and get mine tomorrow.
