Just read the following story via Slashdot. It is about software in smartphones that interacts with Microsoft Exchange, and enables a remote party to wipe all data from your phone. I am curious if the same software also exists in the N900

No, the N900 is a non-provisionable device (i.e. it doesn't support any of the Exchange security restrictions). This does mean it won't sync with any Exchange server set to require provisioning though.

This is not possible. At most you can wipe the contents of someone's mail folder, but the device itself will not respond to any remote-wipe commands no matter the version of Exchange.

I want to know how.

I sync my work diary to my phone, via outlook. So can my phone be wiped?

If you're syncing directly to Outlook (using Ovi Suite/Nokia Suite) then there's zero chance of remote wipe, and the only way a local wipe could be donw would be to wipe your Outlook details, then sync.

If you're syncing remotely using MfE then they could probably wipe whatever contacts, email & calendar entries you're syncing with the server, but again there's zero chance of wiping anything else on the N900.

Just did a video of my exchange. on how you can wipe the phones.
I have not tested on the N900 but have demostrated on the shitphone (Iphone)
This is the way I got approved of having other smartphones rather than Blackberry.

The MfE at the N900 does not support provisioning from the exchange server and all the commands (wipeout, clear, lock, etc.) will be ignored by the device.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that this subject has been extensively covered by the developers of the MfE for the N900 here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=35136
Search for Vitaly's comments for the reasoning on why they could not support those features.

I just did it doesnot do any thing. After you hit wipe on your server all you get on your N900 as exchange error.
Did you really not trust what the dev who designed it said about the same issue?
